Garay,

I replied to your other messages, my hunch is there is no need to send this for repair, you likely need a new pump or your system is more than 2 gallons low and it is simply a normal time out.
I’ve change out my pump and my system is on point on water level
I had another controller that just got wet and installed my back up controller Been sitting for awhile and it states Red light low water I’ve been adjusting the sensor still nothing

Here’s my problem with a new Tunze 3155 auto top off… it will only fill water when I turn off the unit and back on. It will fill for about 15 seconds. So every few hrs I have to switch it off and back on to keep filling my tank. I’m basically doing the work that it’s supposed to do for me.

FYI - the float switch works… and will sound the alarm if filled that high. I just can’t seem to get the sensor to work on it’s own.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
Brother- you can buy a new sensor for those for pretty cheap. I've used them for many years and never had a problem. I would go that route. They are good ATO's. Sometimes you get a lemon, with anything.

Hello @rvitko it seems sensor on my 3155 is bad. On initial plug in light on unit goes from level to too low a couple times and then it starts to pump water .It won't top off on its own. cleaned sensor and still doesn't work. Also is sensor still under warranty if purchased 08.15.2022 ?

@rvitko Wondering if the above address is still correct spot to send failed sensor's

thanks

Two important things though

If it is older than July 2015, it cannot be repaired, if it is newer than 2020, there is no need to send it for repair, you can order the sensor yourself and replace it. We only need to repair units made in between as they need a resistor replaced and a software update to work with current sensors.

o awesome to hear thank you. do you have link to order it?

Ignore out of stock, we do have stock in the US. Generally all out of stock even means is the part is not bagged for retail sale, we have these parts as we make 90+% of them in house, they just are in production rooms or storage instead of in stock and ready to ship.

@rvitko hey having trouble disconnecting senor from unit the white plug with four wires in it to replace. afraid to break it is there a trick to removing it to plug in new one?

They generally just pull straight out, this is what the connector looks like, you pull parallel to the board-

They use an infrared LED and infrared receiver, these parts do fail with age, they are on 24/7. While they are "the same" provided they are made after 2015, they vary slightly in voltage signal and for this reason when a sensor is replaced, the circuit board needs to be calibrated to the new sensor. We do have sensors back in stock, they are $29.49 installed.
I had it replaced in Germany after a year and a half. After not even a year it stopped again to work. The Tunze sensors have really big issues of reliability. You do not buy a product with in mind that you have to send it every year for a sensor replacement. This is unacceptable. I would not buy this product again.

While I am sorry for this experience you had, I can say that the sensors are generally quite reliable, if it were any other way, there is no possible way the US office could run, I am the only repairman for the whole country, I have part time help to ship orders and that includes spare parts and we still manage and generally have a repair turnaround of less than 1 day. You should be able to contact the factory and with this age they can simply send a sensor, the repair policy changed this year as there have been no technical changes since 2020 so there is not need on newer units for software update or resistor replacement. I can say with reasonable certainty our sensors will usually outlast most competitors complete product and if it does fail, it can be repaired and most of what is made today, cannot.

Yes new out of box. It’s a couple of years old but never used. Nothing touching the sensor. I even took it out and cleaned it and covered it and then tried to get the sensor to respond but nada.
I’m having the same exact issue mine is probably 8 months old if that

If you are in the US, please message me, we can get you taken care of, the sensor is replaceable, but make certain it is shiny clean on all sides, they typically need a complete descaling every 6 months. Remove the sensor from the magnet, soak it in vinegar 1 hour, wipe with a soft towel, reinstall.
