Hey reefers, i am currently in the market for a skimmer for a 40 gallon AIO tank and was trying to make a decision between these two skimmers. Any feedback from anyone who has any experience with either or both would be greatly appreciated.

No sump its an IM Fusion Nano 40 mini with the sump compartment at the back...

Well I have not used either but I have used some Tunze equipment and it may cost a bit more at times but from what I can say, if Tunze printed it then that's what it will do. German made.

Do NOT buy the Tunze 9001, Its terrible... all it does is create bubbles and overflow. Id sell it for a loss because I hate it so much but im too scared to turn it off and hurt my tank

Anyway you can move it up some?
Ive moved it up down left right in and out and the dang thing sprues out bubbles and overflows. Its literally covered in crap and hasnt been cleaned in about 3 months in hopes of it fixing itself.

Edit. Idk what else to do

Well you should clean for sure and the YouTube videos people seem happy with them. I would go through the instructions again make sure all is set up correctly and to the height they recommend and then I would start it up again, shut of the air let it run for a bit then slowly open the air tell you see some bubble formation and leave it like that for a while, like 2 hours see what it does. If there is no dry foam at the top of the neck inside the cup, add a little more air, then wait again and redo the processes if you have to, but remember once you have where you like just leave it alone, except for cleaning. Clean it first, take it out and clean the entire unit take pump apart and clean the impeller make sure nothing was/is out of place or any life is somewhere its not suppose to be.

Ive done it all except clean it. I have the air shut valve shut off completely and it still bubbles like crazy

Well then that should tell you something, where can it be getting air if the pump is under water. Take it apart and clean it with water, make sure all parts are where they should be and nothing is hiding waiting to munch your finger and that water level outside of skimmer is where it should be when replacing.

The Tunze 9004 is good for the IM40 you can only fit it in one of the overflow chambers sideways. I have had one in my tank for several years now. I take it apart and clean it every 90 days to keep it running well. The IM unit has never gotten good reviews from those that tried it. Zeal I would post on the Tunze forum and ask for tips from Roger the tunze usa rep. I have Tunze skimmers that are 30 years old and are still kicking up foam.:)

Thanks...i think i would go with the tunze...
