I have a standard 75 fowlr right now with two 6045's. I would like to create a euphyllia dominant reef, no SPS.

Am I good with two 6045's, should I just add one or maybe two new 6045's (lot cheaper the two new 6055's), or just buy two new 6055's and sell my 6045's?

I'm thinking I might get better coverage with 3-4 6045's over two 6055's? I'm not that concerned about remote controlabilty.

I'd take one step at a time in any direction you want. :)

I think a third 6045 will be a lot of flow and you will like it. But I could also see using four in that big a tank, depending how your rocks were laid out and how grown in corals were, etc. (I have used three 6045's in my 36" tanks very successfully....simple timers for a back and forth tide simulation. The pumps only switch off/on eveyr 3 or 4 hours. Works great!)

Adding a single 6055 is another perfectly valid course. It would complement the pair of 6045's will some excellent variable flow. The flow from this pump carries a lot of force, so I think you might like this combo!! Better hypothetical nutrient export capability than any other pump I know of.

If you have the budget to at least try a 6055, I would recommend it. You can always sell it and get that third 6045 later. :)

It's a bit pricier, but the 6095 would be worth considering too.

The 6040 would also be a good complement and is only $140.

I think the 6040 or 6055 would be my choice of targets to experiment with. I wouldn't sell your 6045's. :)

Thanks. With two 6045's, what would be the advantage of adding one 6095 vs one 6055, if any?

Hard to say exactly in your tank....the pump itself is technichally a bit more powerful than the 6055, but the flow velocity created is less. It's flow pattern is shorter and fatter vs the 6055's longer, more narrow flow pattern.

Like I said, I any of those I listed would be worth testing out, but I think the 6055 or 6040 would be the ones I'd want to test the most in your scenario.
