I am looking into getting an ATO for my hospital tank because I hate topping it off twice a day. it is only 28gallons so I have been looking at getting the tunze nano ATO. I just wanted to see what everyone thought about this or is there a different one that I should go with?

Thanks!

Extremely dependable ATO. And great support if needed!

I really like mine.

I was reading reviews on amazon that said how a handful of people had theirs fail and it flooded their tanks. Should I just cough up the extra $100 and go with one of their more expensive modules that has dual sensors?

Just set mine up on a IM 20 gal fusion. Love it. Cant beat a Tunze, have had several over the years.

I have one on each of my tanks. They are both very dependable. If you have thin glass just make sure you put a spacer(cardboard or something) between the outside magnet and the glass. The magnet is quite strong and can disrupt the float switch when too close to it. Great support from Tunze too. They quickly gave me the spacer fix when I called to ask them why my float kept not floating.

Incidents of flooding with Tunze ATOs are almost always user error. I have never had one fail or flood in 20 years. The most common problem is having the outlet hose below the water level in the water reservoir.

The user incidents were only in regards to the Nano ATO. The regular ones seems to have raving reviews.

I have both. No issues. The thing you need to be aware of, is that the full system has an addional float. So if you have a small sump, it may be tight.
That said I'm running the nano in my 75 at the moment and it's doing just fine, even though they rate it for 50 or less.

I have both. I would stick with the 3152 for the 1.8 minute time out and less powerful pump. If the float fails and you use the entire length of provided hose, it will only pump out a couple of liters before shutting down. The 3155 will pump much more if the sensors fail. The Calcium Dispenser 5074 only works with the 3155. The 3152s pump is not strong enough. Just some thoughts to help you with your decision. You really can't go wrong with either.

Both nano and 3155 use the same pump. At least the current ones do.
But yes, they are controlled differently.

Yes but one is less powerful because it is run at a lower voltage.

I found a used one locally and will be setting it up tomorrow. Should the waterline in be above my waterline so it can't create a reverse suction and empty my tank?

I have one and my water level is low enough that my ATO will run out of water before it overflows. It's a great product but if you're worried about it then splurge for the extra security.

Yes the water tube from the pump should be above the water line.
