Anyone else with one of these pumps? When first plugged in min makes a rattle for about a second. Is that normal for these pumps?

Im not sure about those pumps specifically, but most pumps will have their impeller chatter a bit while it gets up to speed and sync with the stator speed.

Ok thanks. I did not think a Tunze would chatter. Anyone own one and can verify that they make noise on start up?

One could take it apart and check the impeller for any cracks in the plastic that could cause chatter. All pumps will make some noise from a dead start. Which model is it?

I have 3 and I don't ever hear them, I have to inspect them to make sure they are actually running most of the time. I have the 6095's btw

Are they controllable or fixed speed? The fixed chatter as there is a stop that makes sure it spins the right direction. If it's a controllable something is wrong as they are silent.

The model is not printed on it. Second from smallest I believe.

If it's an AC pump, that is completely normal. AC pumps can start in either direction upon start up. The pumps usually have a brake to prevent this so that it does not run in reverse. That is what makes the chatter sound.

If it is a DC pump, well, you have a problem that needs to be looked into!
