Tunze Osmolator 3155 High Water Light On Continuously

Since my German is not so good, lol, I am asking for any experienced help for setting sensors on this device, although directions are straight forward. I have two issues: first, the high water light always shines bright green and the level light is a less intense green when the unit has completed filling and shuts off - does this simply indicate that the high water alarm is working/ready to sound if water level becomes too high? I can get the alarm to activate by manually moving the float switch up when this is the case.

Secondly, when I turn off my return pumps for feeding, etc. water rises to float the float switch and sets off the alarm even though I have set the eye and float switch at maximum distance apart; apparently this means I need to mount float switch higher by using the supplied supplemental magnet and holder?

Thanks, btw, Osmolator replaces an old Pacific Sun which I liked, but Tunze certainly has more necessary features.
 
Sounds like it is working properly. You could move the sensor higher (Will probably need to build something to do it) to keep it from triggering when your return is off, but then if your ATO stuck open it would add a lot of fresh water prior to triggering the alarm. I don't turn my return off very often but when I do I just turn the ATO off also.

Thanks, makes sense to just turn it off. I know that I could mount the float valve separately and higher with the extra magnet/holder Tunze supplied, but like you wrote doing so would seem to negate the benefit of have a float-driven cut off.
 
@Mikedawg I think your system is working correctly but the lights are a bit misleading. I learned that unless I look directly at the controller from square in front of it that the light from the LEDs seems to spillover to the next spot. I think the high water LED might actually be red
 
1. you are probably looking at the indicator lights at an angle. Look at them straight on, and you will see the correct light is lit up. Not the best design of the lights.

2. Yes, mount your high water level float switch higher. The chance of the optical switching failing "ON" is very low. And depending on your sump design you should have room to still prevent a large overdose of top off water.

Be careful turning off the ATO with your return. My osmolator primes the pump every time it shuts off, so you have additional rodi top off doing that. instead I would suggest you turn off the return pump. And you set your float switch barely above the water level with the pump shut off.

For whatever reason they flush mount the LED's to the controller board and don't run lenses to the surface of the enclosure so the actual openings for the lights to shine through are about an inch away from the lights themselves. This causes a TON of light overspill when not looking directly at the controller. For such an expensive ATO it's a shame they couldn't either mount the controller board closer to the front face of the shell or install lenses.

Wow, for a minute I was thinking I was color blind!
