Tunze Osmolator 3155 on Nano?

I am looking for a ATO for the Waterbox Peninsula 15 gallon. I'm pretty skeptical of these as I have never used one and reading all the negative reviews gives me anxiety picturing water pouring through my ceiling in the middle of the night....

The 3155 makes me feel like it is a solid option, good reviews, double sensors, etc. I'm wondering if I can get this to fit on the waterbox 15? All the other options I've seen for nanos seem to have negative reviews somewhere.

It appears that the sensor mount will physically fit in my return chamber, however, I understand when it is triggered it runs for 10 seconds. I'm not sure how much the pump flows, but, that could be too much water in such a small system. Anyone using one of these on a nano tank this small? Can the pump be tuned for small all in one like this?

I have been running a 3152 nano on a 65g for 3 years and it has never missed a beat. The pump runs for about 7 seconds per cycle.

Well, I installed the 3152 like one week ago on my Red Sea Max Nano 20g. I am very happy with it and it really helps alot in terms less manual work.

I use a 3155 on a 15 gallon. You can mount the sensors onto separate magnets (included) which really helps in tight spaces.

I have the flow set to about 25% (as there is a about a metre of head). On this setting, it pumps approx. 150 ml of water during initialisation. This is quite a bit for a 15 gallon, so I direct the pipe into a jug when I plug the 3155 back in.

I have a 3155 that I used on my 22g AIO, it's perfect for the job. I'm still using it on a different nano (25g IM ext) in the sump, but everything on my 3155 is original and working just fine and has been for nearly 7 years. Although the pump has ran dry several times and is noticeably louder now, it still works. Tunze rocks!

I had the same ATO on my 25g AIO and it worked perfectly. You can actually open up the controller and adjust the flow rate and for how long the pump will run on each instance.

I'd definitely recommend that ATO.

3155 on a 13g Evo with no problems. I wish you could turn the power-up run off and I've no idea why it does that.

3152 on a different Evo and it keeps stopping for no reason, and I have to turn it off and on again to get it to work. I'm think of swapping it for the 3155.

Some people have recommended not to use the 3155 on a Nano, but I'm happy with mine.

Thanks everyone, after doing some more reading and feedback, I’m going to try out the JBJ nano ATO. It has some safety features and dual sensors and is cheaper. Well see how it works. If I’m not pleased with it, I think I’ll swap it for the 3155. I’ve had the tank up and running now for about 48 hours and I’ve already topped off about 2.5 liters of water.

Get it. Just make sure you clean the optical eye in your monthly maintenance. Vinegar it quarterly. It has never failed me in the on position..which is great. but before I started cleaning it regularly..it was fail me in the off position (ie not turn on when water got low). Completely my fault..but just a live, learn get loves moment.

I ordered the JBJ to test, but now I’m having buying remorse and I’m starting to think I should just get the 3155 since so many have used it on small tanks successfully.

unfortunately, this is one of those topics the more I read, the less confident I am in my decision. Too many horror stories out there.

it is not going to pump enough water in 10 seconds to hurt anything. its just not enough water. If it is..then you definitely are waiting for a disaster because you dont have fail safes in place. Its a good ATO. It's number one in the industry for a reason.

You've made the right choice. As NJTaxMan said, if you aren't around, 10 seconds of pumping won't make a noticeable difference to salinity, and the pump setting can be dialled down for a 15 gallon.

Tunze is phenomenal. My current tank is using a float valve (Cade) but the Tunze worked flawlessly. The new Tunze osmolator 3 sounds even more rock solid ( if possible).

I just bought a wave box and two more 6105s too. If there’s a brand I’m a fan boy of, it’s Tunze. Highly recommend them from my experience so far.

My brand new 3152 kept overfilling my sump, I would re set it and watch it, it would do it all over again, after the 4 th time I pulled it put ion a tank outside set it up and it never over flowed the nano tank, it is now sitting and sitting in a box, I cannot trust it.

Yeah I agree, had the nano tunze, didn’t like it at all, now it just works intermittently so binned it.

I remember when I set it up after my other 3152 went out, I said that I had to season it, somehow that makes a difference. To break it in, it is weird. But no.
