Manufacture date is 10 2013. I bought it in November 2013 and use until August last year when I took the tank down for an upgrade. Its been in my closet since then, I though I could use it later on but I never did. What is the manufacture date on the Tunze?
I think you may have read way too far into this. I can't tell you how many times I have said the same things to buyers on many sites. You tried to haggle him and he gave you a counter offer in the form of squashing fees to give you a deal and offset the difference for him. I don't know either one of you but I can tell you from experience I have been on his end saying the same thing.Moderators.... there were red flags for me here. I am not sure about you. Please see conversation below. I am sure you can check the PMs to confirm.
Me: How about $110 for the Tunze?
Seller: I can do 110 if you pay paypal fees or send as gift. I will ship as soon as i get the money. My paypal is (I deleted this for obvious reasons).
Me: Sorry can no do. Forum rules are very specific about never sending money as a gift and to be very leary of anyone that makes the request.
Seller: No problem. Its not my first time selling in the forum and I understand your concern. You can always pay for the paypal fees or do the 125 and I pay for everything, I was just trying to get you a good deal.
Thanks
(I deleted the name he gave for obvious reasons)
Me: I may be new to this forum. However, when leaders go out of their way to warn the users about certain patterns of behavior (i.e., asking for any money as a gift) people should listen. Then when the seller rationalizes the offer because he is "trying to get me a good deal" all seems a bit much. Don't you think? If the shoe was on the other foot you would be fine with it?
Seller: No problem my man, I understand. I don't want your money, and I will not sell this to you, 16 years of military service and 20 years in the hobby, thrust me, questioning my integrity is enough for me to block your conversation. You should stick to EBAY to buy your gear.
Maybe I read too far into this, but I refuse to engage in a battle of wits with an unarmed person and find it hard to believe that one of our heroes would respond in such a manner.
It's not like he said you need to send to me as a gift or you are not getting it he said hey this price and I'll send it as gift or pay this amount and I'll cover fees. What I would have done is say hey will you take the offer for the gift about and I'll add the 3% and do goods and services? The biggest thing that gets me is its not like there was a 100$ price difference between the two and seams like some negotiations could have got you to a happen medium. Honestly not try to bash just trying to followI certainly appreciate both of your perspectives (nolaron and Nitrodude). Maybe I did read too far into it. So the "Sticky Threads" that say "Do not send money as a gift, EVER!!!!" (in the "Watch out before buying or selling" Sticky) and "Sellers may not ask buyers to PayPal as gift. Any selling fees should be included in the asking price" ( in the "Selling Forum Rules - Please Read Before Posting" Sticky) should be looked at more as a guideline and not a rule.
My ethical dilemma was that if I kept the conversation to myself that it could negatively impact another fellow reefer. It seems the PM discussions can include anything (someone please clarify if this is not the case).
My apologies to P3FE, following the guidelines of the forum were not meant to question your integrity in any way. GLWS.
