I'm really looking to get this little ATO setup but I have a question to those that have it. Looking at the float switch it seems to not fit well for tanks with a frame i.e.: I have a 29 gallon standard tank with no sump/refuge. Will I have to cut my plastic frame and risk cracking the glass or will the water fill past the bottom edge?
If that's the case are there any units that will work with a tank frame?

The float swts mount on a 2 piece magnet so a lip/rim/moulding would not matter.they only thing will be the single wire coming up and over. I have one and this is a great little work horse. I am planning on buying another one.

The mounting bracket and your frame will limit how high your water level will be...at least it did with me. With it jammed up against the frame the water level is visible just below the frame. Since I'm using on a QT it doesn't matter to me but if it was a display tank I would have to try and do some modification on the mounting bracket.

^^^^ As pointed out above if you have canopy it should cover that lower water level

but if you don't then that could cuz a issue for you, and make tank look low.

Another option is to look into the AUTO SMART TOP OFF

really small and compact, works really well and dependable. Check out online.
