New 300 gal reef tank. Using Tunze osmolator. After I trust it, hope to use to add kalk. Second day running - found water level in sump half inch too high and osmolator indicator reading water level too low. Then it functioned perfectly for five days with no changes. Does any one know why it may have filled tank to level too high? I am nervous about overdosing kalk.

I had a similar problem a long time ago, rep from tunze told me ... the magnet in my Ehiem return pump might have disrupt the sensor or reading. I moved the eye sensor to another location in the sump, never had a problem since.

The optic sensor could also be going bad. I've had to replace mine once. It would work fine for a few days and then it would over fill.

You will also have problems if your ato container's water level is higher than the water level in your sump. I had to move the line up to to top of the tank as the 5 gallon container I use has a higher level than sump. Caused it to over fill several times. After moving the line to the top of the tank haven't had a problem since.

I'm not understanding the correlation between the ato storage tank level and the sump level? Water is being pumped from the storage tank, then the sensor shuts down the pump based on the predetermined sump setting. I'm missing something?

What happens is that it will still gravity feed if the water level of the ato is higher than the sump, it creates a siphon. And it won't stop until the water levels equal out
