Hi all. Recently purchased a full setup from someone and the skimmer that came with it, the 9410 Tunze AC, has a very loud splashing noise coming from the water output. Reading the manual, it says the air flow valve can be used during the break in period, but then removed afterwards. I don't think the manual is referring to the AC version of this is it? Am i supposed to remove the air flow valve after break in? What can I do to dampen the water output splashing noise?

Remove the filter sock assembly, it runs much quieter without that contraption. Keep the airline pinch assembly on the airline and don’t remove it, You use that to adjust the amount of bubbles that the skimmer produces for wet vs dry skimmate.

I have both ac and dc versions. The ac version is noticably louder. Both are in 6.5" of water. Most of the noise from the ac comes from the cup on mine.
I run the filter sock with carbon in it. The dc version runs with no filter sock.
Ac version is in the frag/snake room so the noise is not a bother.
