Tunzo ATO pump only working upside down??

So, my tunze pump died a couple months ago & I replaced it. This new one worked for 2 months, but won't pump anymore. If I take it out of the reservoir & turn it upside down, it starts spinning. But as soon as I turn it right side up (with the cable/water line facing up), it sputters to stop & dies.

Anyone else ever seen this & have any ideas on a fix? I'm a month of the return period, or I'd just be sending it back. Ridiculous I'm already having such a major problem with it.

I would think some connection is loose in the inside, so when you turn it upside down it touches the contacts.
Anyway to take it apart?
