Turbo Problem

My turbos keep knocking over my frags....any suggestions on what to do...do i need to keep the turbos??

They do a fantastic job of cleaning your tank, but most people keeping reefs stay away from them because they are constantly knocking things over.

I super glue mine down, usually does the trick. Use the thick gel one in the blue bottle from home depot.

My favorite are the Banded Trochus snails. They are very hardy, can right themselves if they get upside down, they don't climb out of the tank and are pretty (they are striped) and they will breed in your tank. If it were me, I'd just keep the turbos until I got tired of re-fixing things, because they do a great job. liveaquaria.com has good information on their website about the snails they sell.

Our larger ones get into trouble knocking things over. The little ones don't seem to be as naughty. Our big ones can even break the superglue bond. I'd rather pick up a few frags everyday than dealing with those algae problems of the past.

+1! The banded trochus are an awesome alternative!!

I agree banded trochus are the way to go. Plus they usually come with coraline to seed a tank with none already present. I glue zoanthid polyps to their shells and it makes for an interesting critter. I only own turbo in my 60G cube and he has not caused any trouble yet for me.
