Turbo snail gone mia

I have a medium sized turbo in a 10 gallon nano. Haven't seen him in several days now. Do I need to worry about an ammonia spike if he dies? Just want to know if I need to start digging around to find him.

Considering its only 10 gallons, move your rock and find him, shouldn't be hard to find. If he's dead i would toss it, in a small tank like that it would likely raise your nutrient levels drastically depending on the size of the snail. Could also just be stuck in the rock work, you never know.

Ugh! Was afraid of that. Nothing good happens when I stick my hands in the tank!

lol it's a necessary evil unfortunately. I always just wash and rinse my hands/arms very very well, be very careful not to hit anything, etc. You can always just leave it. This is why i always keep a handful of hermits in my system. Ultimately snails die, it happens, the hermits make quick work of eating them. My Nassarius snails will even eat dead turbos; if you dont want to introduce crabs this might be a long term solution.

Being a nano tank my concern is an ammonia spike. Looks like I'll be going snail hunting this weekend.

Good news - found turbo and still alive.

Bad news - I really stressed out my frogspawn in the process. Part of my aquascape came tumbling down along with frogspawn. Had to stabilize things better and re-glue coral in place. I stressed it out more than normal so hopefully I didn't do any permanent damage. So bummed! It was doing so well until this happened.

it'll be fine. much hardier than we think.
Also use your nose on the tank. works for a lot of stuff.
When turbos die they STINK. and you do really need to get them out NOW> not just ammonia spikes. toxins of some sort. yucky.
Glad hes alive. If my little "Flower" died, Id be heart broken.
