TURBO SNAILS AND MUSHROOMS

I had a beautiful green mushroom coral that was doing quite well in its spot in my tank. I'd had it for about 6 months and it had grown to about an inch-and-half across.

But this morning I noticed that it had completely disappeared, and in its place was my rather large turbo snail! I took a turkey baster to the tank to hunt for the mushroom - thought it might've gotten covered up by the gravel. But I just can't find it - or any remnants of it - anywhere!

Could the snail have eaten the mushroom?

Doubtful. It probably let loose from the rock and floated in the flow to somewhere else in the tank. The snail could have dislodged it, but I have never seen a turbo eat any of my corals including mushrooms.
When looking for it keep in mind that it will likely be shriveled up and tiny and therefore difficult to find.

The mushroom probably let go if it was unhappy with the location or situation. I had a frag with 2 shrooms on it and one day I came home from work to only find 1.

Good point about the size - I wasn't considering that in my search. Will check around the tank more thoroughly.

Glad to hear that there still might be hope that the little guy is alive!

It’s probably closed up somewhere in the tank. Maybe the snail was bothering it. Hope you find it!!

The green mushroom re-appeared a few weeks ago, but now it's gone again. Hoping to see it again soon!
