Hello everyone, I went on a little trip for 5 days came back to a dead turbo snail. Came straight in the house and started my testing and found out that my ammonia is like .7greenish color. nitrite is good and nitrate is like .8

The question is, what killed the snail?? Everything else is fine; All of the fish and coral look and are acting healthy? Its werid to me. Let me know what everyone thinks could of happen.

Do you have any crabs? Your ammonia should be at 0 too. Is your tank spotless; nothing for it to eat?

Low calcium or alk can kill em. Sometimes theres no explanation, if they get ill the brislteworms take care of em.

The only crab i have it a pom pom and the cal, mag, and alk. are all within normal range. I forgot to add the water dropped from 1.025 to 1.023?? The reason why the ammonia is even up is because of the dieing snail and i took the snail out and trashed it. The tank had algae on the glass and they were getting fed everyday so i know there was food to eat. Who knows

Snails usually arent around long enough to pollute the water, worms usually get to them very quickly.

They just appear to die for no reason. I have had them last for a year, and I have had them only last for 3 months in the same tank. Whether it is old age, sickness, being bullied.......they just die :-( I have never been able to pinpoint any cause.
