Hey guys,

So this week, I noticed some green turf algae on parts of my LR and then I think it spread to my sandbed? I tried to search for others who had similar issues but couldn't really find anything. My tank us just around the 1-year old mark.

I tested my water:
- .03 PPM after the RO membrane going into my DI resin
- .00 PPM water going into my water storage vats

Feeding the normal amount, and 1/2 sheet of Nori everyday for my tangs. Nothing out of the ordinary.

I thought maybe my sediment or carbon filters might be spent, so I changed them just as a precaution and did a 50-gallon water change last night. Going to do another 50-gallon change today.

Anyone else have this happen to them and any other ideas how to get rid of it? I was planning to get rid of my sandbed this weekend... this might be a sign from God that it needs to go lol

I had green turf algae in my first tank.

First, are you sure it’s turf algae?

You may need a microscope to be sure. A cheap one will work.

FWIW, I used fluconozol per instructions and it was completely eradicated.

No harm to livestock or corals.

No I have not looked at it under a microscope, in your opinion would that be a thing I should consider? I could most likely get a hold of one today and take some pictures.

Where did you get the Fluconazole from? Is this not a prescription from the vet?

Pics always help identify properly so if you can that’s great.

Google fluconozole.

No prescription required.

If you have trouble finding it I will help.

I’m outside pressure washing right now!

Ya so I went into the drug store and asked for Fluconozole. I had no clue that its used for yeast infections.

You should have seen the confused look on the pharmacists face when I asked. I had some explaining to do.

Does anyone have a calculator for steps on how to dose of this stuff? Also, I was only able to get 200 mg tablets, not the 250 mg ones.

Search on here for the fluconazole thread. Instructions are there.

Sorry I can’t help more at the moment

Where did you purchase yours? Everything I am finding needs a prescription
