I have a few patches of turf algea popping up in my LPS/Softie tank, does anyone know of a fish or other natural predator of this stuff. I happened to stop in my LFS today and pick up some food and stuff and they said that a tang wouldn't touch it. They are usually pretty knowledgeable about that stuff. But I wanted some of your thoughts before I tried to get rid of this stuff. BTW I have a couple of pretty aggressive damsels in there so if there is a fish it has to be able to hold his own!

I have some in my FOWLR, and my Vlamingii Tang nor two Rabbitfish will eat it.
Mexican Turbo Snail maybe? I had one in my reef that did a good job but it eventually got too big and started to knock things over.

I will have to give one a try. I don't have much rockwork in there so big is not a problem.

I just got some Mexican Turbo's the other day because I read they ate it. It has only been about 3-4 days, but they do seem to be eating it.

Turf algae could mean hundreds of different things, a better description or photo would help greatly.

I'm talking about the small dark green "clumps" of algea. I know there is some Hair algea in there too. Is it turf?

That was my thought too. I have been wanting a long spine and I think it would fit well in this tank. Not much rockwork to knock over. Thanks!

If you don't have any sps, long spine black urchins are the way to go, they will eat most kinds of algae.

I only have a couple of monti caps in that tank. Its mainly zoas/palys and LPS.

I like ReefCleaners and their guide is helpful, but their suggestions only include items they sell.
