Today there was a massacre of my snails by a coalition of red hermit ,blue hermit crabs, 2 peppermint shrimp , a cleaner shrimp and to top it off my large lavender tang decided to join in on the snail feast! this morning I noticed that one of my margarita snails was being eaten by two hermits. one red one blue. of course the snail is in spot where I can't grab it. its not a day I can put my hands in the tank since im working on a car engine. about 20 minutes later I see my peppermint shrimp turn over a snail and rip it out of its shell and proceed to eat the trochus snail. the only thing I can think of is I did lower my feedings not to the point where there s a uprising and massacre of snails ! in addition currently there is a feud between my blue springer damsel and lavender tang. the springer damsel has decieded to make a borrow under a rock and make its home. its nice den for him as he s made the floor bare bottom and has pushed some rocks around for comfort. this home building has not gone un noticed as the lavender tang has decided he wants the new home the blue damsel has built. suffice It to say there s has been some sparring and chasing between the two but the damsel holds on to his home. although the lavender tang is the boss of the tank and sleeps his smaller lavender tang friend. are there turf wars in your tanks ?

My tank is a 30 Long, but there is always a turf war. I have a female and male 'pair' in my tank that host on different sides of the tank, and every day they meet in the middle to spar. The female is 3x the size of the male and is always the winner!!
I also used to have a goby that would beef with my Jawfish - the goby would spit sand into my jawfish's den, ticking of the jawfish and causing the jawfish to flare up

That is so sad. They are hungry. Feed more in your tank.. i have never had a problem with CUC eating each other i feed plenty of food to make sure everyone eats or they will eat each other to survive
