This stuff has been taking over, any idea.

Detaches easy but catches in rocks and regrows.

Thanks,

Ram

Looks like Green Hair Algae - GHA. Usually an indicator of high phosphates. I'm willing to bet if you check your parameters you will find elevated phosphates and possibly nitrates as well. How often do you check your water params, how big is the system, number of inhabitants, feeding schedule, do your water changes? Answers to these questions will give us a baseline to help you out. If you grab a clump and it becomes green slime in your hand out of water, it's GHA. If it keeps it's shape it's "turf algae" or possibly Bryopsis, although my money's on GHA.

0.3 po4
10 nitrate

2 ml nopox

feeding couple pellets twice daily nothing remarkable.

cheato refuge

if its gha i will lessen feeding more

Wqs just checking to see if it was so.ething exotic.

Nitrates aren’t too bad, Po4 is a little high. Battling a similar situation in my 14g, but not to worry that extent. Gonna add a bit of phosguard this weekend to drop my levels from 0.115. What test do u use for Po4?

I am guessing hair. How old is your tank? Is it a mixed reef? Could it have come on some new addition to your tank? P going from .3 to .01 in 1 day is pretty strange unless you have a lot of P reducing media that you just refreshed or added. I dont see that your numbers are out of wack for a stable tank. Many tanks run on 8N .01P. However .01P is bordering on starving your coral. Im guessing that you have done something new chemically or light related and now your tank is a bit out of balance.

I agree with lapin. Going from .3 to .01 Po4 quickly makes me suspect a bad test on either occasion, or the .3 is an old test result. I’m not indicting you. Lord knows i haven’t been as scrupulously in testing as I should be. And if I’ve learned nothing else in this obsession, it’s that regulated water parameters are a sure way to success.

I’m assuming its pulling of the rock easily like turf algaes and not rooting?
I haven’t seen that one in particular.
But if it’s thin and wispy and not thick and calcerioius like a lot of the turf algaes , the reef hd or the regular or fluconazole should zap it.

The hd is pretty strong. It’ll zap your fuge too

I meant 0.03 and that was last time I checked like 2 months ago. Tanks 2 years old.

Maybe ill dose some aminos. Got to figure this algea out.
