Turmeric in reef tank

Never heard of using it but wont it turn your water yellow?

Turmeric is used for inflammation in ayurvedic medicine. I could see it being used in conjunction with another natural remedy to help speed the healing process.

I have it as a pure essential oil. When I take it (add to capsule) I end up burping up something close to campfire all day. ;)

I am intrigued as to how essential oils (ginger also!) might play a role in natural healing. Maybe soaking the food in it? Hmm. ;Bookworm

That's what I was thinking

I did feed my hippo with frozen adding ginger and garlic juice with turmeric for 3 days , it cured cloudy and swallow eyes and scratches and white spot with no sign...moreover I even tried adding turmeric in freshwater for dip to my wild caught puffer babies around 7-10 mins for 2days ..they survived...

I know I can use garlic or ginger to cleanse my fish... Do you guys think I could use turmeric? Reason I ask is because I'm out of ginger and garlic and my grocery store doesn't carry either in powder forms anymore

I did a quick search and there is a researcher who is testing turmeric against Aeromonas bacteria in FW fish. That is a pretty specific application, and I have some doubts about the paper as the author spelled "kidney" as "kedney" and the editor didn't fix it (grin).

I am not a big fan of using herbal supplements in marine aquariums - the efficacy is suspect, and then, if there are any studies to back it up, they are fisheries studies (like this one) that simply do not extrapolate to home marine aquariums.
