turning a 40br into an AIO...anyone done it?

OK long story short I am move my 90 reef to a 40br so I can do a seahorse set up but in order to keep a reef I should keep it as simple as possible so I Am looking for ideas.

I just want to hide an upflow ATS...

Oceanbox sells a conversion kit for the 20L. You can use that for inspiration. The nice thing about following the kit is you could silicone everything outside of the tank, slide it in and then just seal the outer edges to the glass. I'd suggest a peninsula style though since you're going to eat up a lot of footprint if you use the whole back. https://oceanboxdesigns.com/product/oceanbox-designs-reef-conversion-kit/

I considered one of these for my 40 Breeder but with the limited space for equipment and the tiny little sump section that your return pump sits in would probably would run dry quickly from evaporation so a ATO would be a must have from the start.. I was able to snag a new under tank sump for less than what these cost and I’m glad I went that route instead of the AIO retrofit.

yeah trying to keep this as simple as possible so not to take up much room and seem like I have to many tanks in my rental...

I did see the AIO kits for the 40br on ebay that might be an option. Iall I really need it to do is hind the heater and upflow ATS still on the fence if I want a skimmer or not?

but in the end maybe just making a 40/40 DT /sump might just be the easiest way . I do have one around I can use. make a skimmer stand get some of that stuff the BRS used in there ULM tanks for a baffle...BUT then comes getting the water down there...not sure I want to drill again I did break one tank trying it the other I did but my overflow just keep leaking so I upgraded to a rimless 90

so I thought a sumpless easy reef might be in order to keep the few fish I have so i can build out the SH tank in the 90...

any thoughts on a nice HOB skimmer?

also thought about a painted piece of glass silicone in to one side just to hide the heater and ATS?? nit sure how I will get the flow throught tho was thinking maybe 1/4 slots of of the side??

Get a hob skimmer with low profile, a heater and overhead. You can cover the heater with rock, but levee a little space for water movement, and then the only thing you will have showing is power head and pump for skimmer. Some have small pumps so not much showing

@wilder that is interesting for sure. that could work some more research will be needed but I just looking at it it could to the trick.
