I have an aqua clear 110 on my 60g tank and at night it's pretty loud. Is it possible to turn it off at night and turn it back on in the morning?

It's definitely not recommended, without proper circulation the tanks inhabitants really won't be able to do well long term. Without anything else generating flow in the tank you would basically be hoping the tanks residents wouldn't deplete too much oxygen from the water every night. An aquaclear running properly is actually a very quiet filter. I run smaller ones on all my QT tanks and would have no problem sleeping with one on my night stand. Is the noise you're hearing from the water splashing into the tank or the filters impeller not working properly?

Unfortunately it’s not a good idea. Not only could it cause the water in the tank to be stagnant if you have no other circulation, but also the water in the filter itself would get stagnant and could cause the bacteria in the filter to die, which could cause an ammonia spike in your tank, which could kill all of your livestock when you turn the filter back on.

It's not the water noise it's the impeller that is loud, also I would keep my power heads on.

If the impeller is the issue .

look into other mechanical filtration .
such as a canister that can hide under the stand .
