Turtle's Deep Blue Sea

The tank is fine. Got alk up to 8.3 the other day, oops. We unplugged the dosing pump. So uh, what does it mean when the chaeto turns white?

Typically that is too much light or too little nutrients/trace elements.

Sorry about the lack of updates this week. Just got back from the doctors and I have acute pharyngitis. The inferno zoa is still opening every day like normal, the three other new ones have a few polyps that try and open but don't quite get there. Sushi has found a new home in the front of the tank so I see him/her more. Still no sight of the mate or the shrimp. Maui has been protesting food. He'll act hungry when I feed the fish, check out his food but never take it. Oh, I did see Maui close to Sushi at feeding time but he never made an aggressive move. These eels are really passive.

Today is Saturday, so that means water change day... ugh do I have to get off the couch?

Hope you feel better being sick is the worst.

Missing a water change by day won’t kill the tank

Everyone ate tonight. Maui included. Sushi is turning out to have quite the personality. He she snatched a whole piece of mysis right from in front of big mouth McLeod. I'll test alk and phosphate a little later tonight and see where we are at.

Ok tested alk and phosphates. Alk is 8.3 DKH. I have no clue why it dropped as low as it did with the few corals I have in the tank.

Phosphate... funny story. So the red sea kit has a high range and a low range. On the high range it looks like I have 1.36ppm, but the color is a bit faded... usually I have a female here to check these color things. So I decided to test on the low range test. Color is dead nuts on 0.08ppm.

I usually have a female here...that explains why we haven't been invited lately. The whole sick ( fake cough) is just an excuse. Lol

Now that we look back, Triton said we had .272mg/L of PO4 sometime in December... since I have no clue what a quarter pounder with cheese is on the metric system, we had to do some Googling. ;Bookworm

Turns out mg/L is the same as ppm... who knew? ;Cyclops

I was thinking last night, is your chaeto white everywhere or just on the top? Are you turning it?
