So, the calcium checker. You have to add 10ml of RODI, then 1ul of tank water and the powder reagent. If you are off any from 1 micro liter of tank water it throws the test results way off... I'm talking thinking you have 600ppm Ca!

pHep... the probe has to stay wet. It's shipped dry. So, soak it in the storage solution for specified amount of time. Calibrate with provided 7 and 4pH solutions... instructions really vague. Use in tank, try and put storage solution in cap to keep probe wet. Insert tester into cap and get sprayed in face with storage solution. Wipe face so I can see again, remove cap, few drop of solution remain... it's now a really expensive thermometer.

Low Range Phosphate, not ULR phosphorus... no clue what is malfunction is. Add 10ml test water and press button. Add one packet of powder. Shake 2 minutes to dissolve. Insert vial and press button again. Wait for 3 minute timer. Result... 0ppm. EVERY. BLEEPING. TIME.

dKH Alk checker. Press button to turn on checker. When C1 shows, add 10ml to curvete, clean glass, insert into tester, press button. When C2 shows, add 1ml reagent with provided syringe to curvete. Clean glass, place back into tester and press button. In a few seconds it shows alk. Simple, accurate and works every time.

So, we actually got an accurate reading on the HI758 Calcium checker. I may have gone a hair over my 450 target, but it's nothing crazy high that's going to hurt anything.

So here are our core parameters before water change today. I have my water heating up. It was in the garage and well, it's cold outside.

Haven't checked nitrates recently, last test was 4ppm... not concerned about that. Phosphate was 0.08ppm as of last night.

Now, how long does it take to get five gallons of water from the edge of freezing to 78° with a 150W heater? Impatient Turtle is impatient.

Found a new baby acan head! It's on the left tucked up under the big polyp.

And... SUSHI!!! This is where it made its new home.

He's kinda like Tim, he'll come out of the hidey hole and just hang out right there as long as I'm really still. One move and proof, he's gone. I really wish the camera did him justice. His head is much brighter yellow, and his fins are iridescent blue. I just can't catch all that on the camera because he's gone before I can filter in manual so I gotta take quick snaps in auto.

Water change done. We added two more corals to the tank too... not new corals, we've had these for a while. Way back when we had the 75g running. One head purple tip frogspawn and one head green hammer. We suck them on the inside of the rock formerly known as zoa peninsula... it's becoming "not sps" peninsula now. Acantraz will remain as named. I kinda maybe split the frogspawn skeleton breaking it off the frag plug... but it seems unaffected and is fluffier than the hammer is already. No where near fully extended, but I've had them on the frag rack in the tank all morning(tank sunrise is at 11am) and they were open until I decided to pop them off the plugs and glue them down. They should get over it soon and come out to play.

The tank is looking extremely happy today. Everything is open and fluffy and colorful... except those zoas. Still only a polyp or two every other day will half way open. But, eveything else looks like it had an extra shot of espresso this morning.

Here's a little video for y'all. I thawed a half cube of Cobalt mysis, a small piece of LRS Reef Frenzy, a few drops of Reef Nutrition Oyster Feast, and 1ml each of Red Sea Reef Energy A and B with some tank water. Swirled it all around and mushed the chunk of Reef Frenzy and teased the clowns a bit. Bonnie had her face out of the water, I think I missed that on the camera. They get just as excited as my dog does at dinner time. Shhhh, don't say it out loud, he knows what you are saying and he doesn't eat until six. Maui was a no show, I figured he wouldn't eat so I didn't thaw anything for him. He had a three tentacle piece of squid yesterday so it'll be a day or three for him.

We dipped the three zoa colonies that have been closed in 2/3 tank water and 1/3 3% hydrogen peroxide. All the gunk that was on them was gone after the dip. Hopefully they open soon. We also repositioned the frogspawn. It's on the tip of the peninsula now. I think it'll look better there as it grows out. Plenty of room, ya know?

Polyp Bailout is a real threat unfortunately.

Also keep in mind Frogspawns don’t like a lot of light, or flow for the matter. If you seen him not expanding fully, either one of those may be the reason why.
