Turtle's Deep Blue Sea

Thanks, this was today, it is very ticked off, it has been flipped through about 45 degrees by my big black mithrax, that is is the only thing strong enough in the tank do move it! ;)

Amazon goodies arrived today! Chemiclean, wood air bubblers so we can try this micro bubble scrubbing thing that's supposed to pick up all kinds of detritus, and some stuff for the nano. First, the chemiclean.

Dirrections, dissolve one scoop per 10g of aquarium water in a separate container, then add to aquarium. I've estimated this tank somewhere around 45 gallons... so I did 2 scoops. Literally less that 30 seconds later this happened...

Anyway... well, guess we don't need to hook these up just yet.

I've got the skimmer cup drain open for now so it doesn't make a mess. The cargon and gfo are offline as recomended on the chemiclean box. Put a fresh filter sock in the sump and I'm about to go get some live rock.

Oh, yea... forgot to take a picture before the bubblecaust, but you can see how bad the cyano is here. Kinda... it's got long streamers blowing in the current.

Off to get rock, in SHORTS and T SHIRT! Finally starting to warm back up... I thought winter would never end.

Back home... never using chemiclean again.

Oh, yea... the bag floating. We got a fairy wrasse. Not sure what kind, the LFS got them in a order and they were labels as assorted female fairy wrasse... this one was one of the last ones and has awesome colors, so we HAD to bring her home. I'll get a positive ID on it later once I get my QT tank back up and running. It's just floating in the tank to keep temp good for now.

Your supposed to turn the skimmer off.... at least for 24hr. Excited about the wrasse!

I recommend pulling the collector off and letting it overflow. You still get the aeration that way. Of course, adding air stones is the other option.

Yep, either cup off and run the skimmer or turn it off and start the air stone.
Either way you are supposed to aerate the water during treatment.

I turned my skimmer off for 24 hours, pulled out the bag of carbon and ran an air pump hose next to the return pump's intake.
When I turned the skimmer back on after 24 hours I still got the storm of foam.

#3... I've got some BIG changes going on... I'll update later once I get everything handled. The skimmer problem is handled, for now. Redneck style, lol.

Changes!!! We love changes!!!!!!

And wow! They have changed the directions since I used it!

Alright where do I start... well, here's all my old rock.

I'll keep that stuff and cure it later. I'm gonna keep it wet for now, but I'll dry it out and clean it really well before curing it at a later date.

So uh... Turtle, if you removed all the rock from the Deep Blue, what is in there now?

We just went and got 25lbs of coraline covered rock. What were you doing? Anyway, here's what the tank looks like. Sorry for the bubbles, I'm making some more water to fill the sump. My return is cavitating a bit from removing some water.

This one is dark, trying to block out the bubbles.

And a little brighter, lots of glare from the bubbles.

Sushi and Tim are stressed. They both had to be convinced they didn't want to stay in their rocks. Sushi had a quick bath in room temp water when she jumped out the rock into the tub, Tim had to be left out of the water for a minute until he jumped into the 5g bucket of tank water. Bonnie and Clyde are unphased, as usual... Sapphire seems to be dealing with it ok.

How do you get an anemone out of a deep crevass in a rock? Well, you leave the anemone alone and break the rock... make sure to keep squirting water on the anemone, and don't hammer it either.

Back in the tank, and opening back up in just minutes.

Ok tank has cleared up for the most part. Here's the final product, and I am in LOVE. Valentines came a day late.

Corals already adjusted for the most part.

Sushi and Tim calmed back down and figuring things out...

Sapphire being pretty.

And last but certainly not least, Bonnie and Clyde hanging out in their normal spot.

Alright so I bet you're wondering what happened to the wrasse. Don't worry, I didn't forget about her. QT was already set up, but I had drained some water out of it to use on the Menagerie. I had 5g of RODI made up in the garage that was already about 70°F (remember, shorts and flip flops weather). I had to put about a cup of salt in to bring the salinity up and then just wait on temp.

We were ready to add the wrasse to QT. You'll notice a familiar rock in there... that used to be Acantraz... yea, its now a QT rock.
