Turtle's Fairy Tale

Wow I can't believe your progress so far! I have the little brother in the 66 cube. Hope to have it plumbed in the next couple of weeks. Finally just finished buying all the equipment for not.

So glad Maui has a nice new home

Thanks. I think I've ordered everything I need, short of some PVC fittings I'll pick up from Lowes, to make things happen next week. My wallet is sore...

Hopefully Maui and everyone else enjoys it.

My wallet hurt and went into hiding for a month before it felt a bit better. But the tank is just worth it now that it’s wet and running. Can’t wait to see your progress!

Yeah. Visa! ;Greedy

So... funny story.

My bank called me today about some 'suspicious activity' on my account. Turns out it was all the orders from BRS, MD and Dr F&S... ;Woot;Woot;Woot

I told the nice lady that was all me and that I was setting up a new salt water aquarium.

How did the red Sea lid work? Do you think id be able to modify if to fit my 32x24"?

Finished... took a break to watch Thor Ragnarok. Tight as a guitar string.

How did you manage that? I pulled and pulled and I still feel like it’s not as tight as I’d like.

Very easily. The inside dimentions of my tank are 34 7/8" x 23". Each of the corners are exactly 1", so that makes it easy. Cut the two long pieces to 32 7/8" and two of the three short pieces to 21".

It also comes with inside corners and two short pieces to go around a center overflow. My overflow is low enough in the tank that the screen sits above it.

Umm, just kind of put it in there. I started on one corner and kept one line on the screen in the groove as I rolled the spline in. When i went aound a corner I'd pull it tight and follow a line keeping it in the groove. The screen is tight enough when you take it off the tank it warps, but once you set it on the tank it lays flat.

Great! I want to go this route, but the wife is really excited by the possibility of a feed door if I go custom :(

I remember you saying your drain is going to be a durso, did it come with that setup? Mine came as a Herbie.... just wondering...

It came with the durso that I'm going to use, or a short pipe for the herbie. My tank has 3 holes drilled in the overflow, I know some of them only had 2.

Update time. I'm getting closer and closer to getting this tank running!

The problem with the 1/2" loc line is resolved!

Before, wimpy wimpy wimpy.

After, hefty hefty hefty

All I had to do was replace the 1"-1/2" reducers with a section of 1" PVC and a 1"-3/4" female slip/thread adapter. Opened the holes up in the overflow with a dremel. They aren't perfectly round, but its pretty close and nobody can see it with the loc line screwed in.

We shortened the durso stand pipe about an inch, and also made an emergency drain incase something happens to our durso. All of that is installed and leak tested the bulk heads. So far, no leaks.
