Tux or halloween urchin

Tuxedo urchin. They're small and quite polite, although they will pick up and use smaller frags, algae, and assorted pieces of equipment for camouflage.

I’ve got two tuxedos in this RSM 250. I haven't noticed them making a dent in coralline in any of the four builds in which I've placed them. The variegated urchins (Lytechinus variegates) seem to like it more.

My tank is 13g and mild hair algae. How fast do you think a 1 inch urchin might take to eat all of it

Cause/effect is hard to gauge with new builds. Yes, my GHA disappeared after I put the first of my urchins in my RSM250...but it could also have diminished because I started to dose phyto...or because the tank began to mature.

I'm positive they are not and will eat algae and small micro animals like sponge. I've owned pencil urchins in the past and had good success with them eating nuisance algae. Its ur reef though and I respect your decision

Thanks. But did you have the pencil urchin in FOWLR or actual reef? Now I'm curious as I love pencil urchins
