I had 4 tuxedo urchins ship January 8 at 4p. USPS says they’ll arrive by 9 tonight (January 11th), but they just arrived at the distribution center at 5 and I doubt that’s going to happen. Are urchins hardy enough to survive 4 days? Outside temp in NH is 25-40 average

Tuxedo urchins are pretty hardy for tropical marine organisms. I've had them shipped to my house in the middle of January (with -20C to -30C weather) and three-day shipping times, with no mortality. I also once had a shipment of tropical marine organisms delayed by a blizzard -- with no heat -- and I measured the water temperature on arrival at 5C or 40F. Everything but some snails and the urchins died.

That makes me feel better about it, thanks.
It just updated and it won’t be here until tomorrow. I don’t know why I keep paying money for priority mail when I always receive shipments in the same amount of time as standard shipping anyway.

I regularly pay for overnight shipping...only to have it show up three days later. Paying fifty or eighty bucks is still cheaper than the ten-hour round trip and $150 in gas it would cost me to drive to the nearest LFS. I feel your pain. :)

Any other experiences?

All dead on arrival. Algae barns doing what algae barn does and shipping new ones ASAP. Is what it is

I bought 3 from Petco. If they can survive there then they can survive anything anywhere.

edit - sorry for your loss OP.

Ha thanks. Shipping is the bane of my existence

So sorry to hear about this. At least you're getting replacements -- for free, I hope!

Oh definitely for free.. it was USPSs fault. But thanks, just annoying because so many animals are lost in transit due to the shipping services providing false timelines
