i knew they would carry small frags but not a big piece like this lol

Hey! didnt you know??.... if it aint glued down its going on his back. They are strong and will pull frags from rocks if not properly secured. I recommend slowly peeling it off and letting the urchin let go gently.

They are also giant bulldozers, mine have yet to pick up a frag, but they sure have knocked them over a lot.

My tuxedo urchin does the same thing. It’s picked up rocks, zoas, and shrimp molting. I’ve seen it riding around on the turbo snail too. He’s a character, and gets around well.

Update: successfully took it off! Can’t really glue these down because it’s on a frag rack and I’m currently setting up an 80 gallon so have to keep an eye on him :)

Yea mine goes all around the tank but usually just picks up hair algae, shrimp molts and small rubble lol

They sure are thieves but man oh man are they good algae eaters.

Love my pincushion urchin but like many have said if it’s not glued down he will steal it. They are great at removing algae that’s why he stays in my tank.

Put a couple empty snail shell in your tank.
I have 2 that carry empty shells all the time.
It gives them something thats easy to pickup.

Yea all my corals are glued down good or well encrusted.
Mine eat coralline algae and red turf algae thats almost gone.
Luckily my coralline grows fast.
Here is my other one with a snail shell and bits of coralline algae lol.
