Hello,

I was looking for guidance on how many Tuxedo Urchins would be good for a 100G with a pretty healthy amount of algae?

Any thoughts appreciated.

Thanks!

two should be adequate to assure a supply of food. At times, algae will grow faster than they can consume it, so reduce white light intensity or amount of time whites are on to reduce the grrowth rate and potential of the algae

I have six in my 100g. I also clean my glass every other day (heavy in, heavy out), so they have ample food sources.

I had 4 small ones in my 75 gallon with hundreds of snails and hermit crabs. 4 were too many and one starved out, I've been maintaining the 3 for the past year and they have grown in.

I’d go urchins over snails for algae any day. I have a tuxedo and a Halloween urchin in my 50 gallon. As long as you have a lot of algae, I‘d bet at least four would help keep things in order for your 100 gal tank.
