I found this gem of a lion fish today at a LFS. they said its been in there system over a month and is eating ghost shrimp. I asked to see it eat they said it probably wouldn't eat now cause they feed in the AM and there out of ghost shrimp any ways. this is my first fish that is considered a picky eater. Any one have any tricks or tips to help him to start eating?? i have him in a breeder box with ghost shrimp in there if he decides to eat, should i keep him in the breeder box till he eats or let him free swim in the tank? ? Im thinking keep him in the box untill he starts eating but still im unsure. I feel like if i let him free in the tank ill never know when he eats and he will hide. thanks in advance

put him in your main tank get a small net and train him to eat out of it. thats how i feed my fuzzy dwarf. and slowly start putting frozen thawed krill or small silversides in it to start the swittch off of live

thats a good idea you think loading up my tank with a lot of ghost shrimp will help him eat to?

I trained my fuzzy to eat using a feeding stick. He ate frozen ghost first day and silversides on day two.

I made my feeding stick using a piece acrylic airline tube with 50lb fishing line taped to the end. Sticking a shrimp on the fishing line makes it easy to mimic prey behavior.

good news is in!!! I still have him in the breeder box and 2 of the 4 ghost shrimp are gone so i think he ate them 8) i "gut stuffed" the ghost shrimp with cyclopeeze so he is getting more nutrition im thinking. He seems to be content in the box just resting there tomorrow morning ill introduce him to the tank. He will be the king of the tank

dont add ghost shrimp to your tank they can be acclimated to salt water but most will die. get some saltwater grass shrimp or hawaian red shrimp if you want to get feeders for your tank

he is eating very well. the shrimp dont make it to long he stalks them out when i put them in there. he waits for me to drop them in then he goes to work finding them. he knows im his food source so far so good 8)
