Ive always liked these little guys and have had in the past... Are they still as hard to keep as ever? Captive bred any easier / longer living than non captive?

Looking for a cool sand sifter suitable for a 25gal.

they are very hard to get eating, and none are captive bred, i've tried many methods on feeding them and they still end up wasting away after 3 - 4 weeks. they prefer super fine sand and aquariums just dont have enough microcrustaceans to sustain them long term.

Honestly, no sand sifter is suitable for a tank where it will just remove all life from the sand. This removed most of their food source and ends up with them starving out.

As for difficulty, these are still some of the harder species to keep. I don’t know of any places that breed this species (which may give an idea on the difficulty of getting them to thrive).
