I like polycarbonate more due to durability and resists warping better. It will decrease par vales somewhat the same. If you are worried, just make openings with netting.

The polycarbonate will also help with splashing and evaporation.

Does open netting have less light impediment than the polycarbonate ?
What percentage of loss with both ?

It's very hard to determine exactly since each company may make theirs slightly different. Also thickness plays an important roll. I would say usually cuts about 5-10% for open netting and 20-30% based on my experience for complete cover.

I am glad I saw this, tried to make it over to menards this weekend but didn't make cause of the weather. Hopefully I'll get some this week. I want to start covering sumps to cut down on humidity and evaporation. Looks like a great product.
