So I was thinking of getting a skimmer as my new regimen has make my nitrate levels explode. Being the thrifty college student I am, I have come down three choices and I was hoping for feedback.
Currently installed in my system is an un-pressurized manifold. I was thinking of taking this line and adding on two pressure free external skimmers that I'd sit in 10 gallon tanks for overflow. That way, I can use my presurized manifold to attach a third fuge. While I'm sacrificing performance by them getting little pressure, it would be compensated (maybe) by having two, and having them powered on all day.
My other idea is to take forgo the third fuge and used the pressurized line, to power one external skimmer (still sitting in a tank) that would be powered on during night-time only.
The last option, is to get an HOB skimmer, that I know nothing about and hope that I can fit it onto my sump.
Thanks in advance, and I'm switching to my phone to upload sketches now.
