@i cant think pilled a page out of your book! Finally found a healthy and good deal on a bicolor foxface. Decided to bring her home. She hasnt left my magnificent foxface’s side since! Cant get a good picture but he is out so much more in the last hour of her being in the tank! She really compliments his colors!! So glad I gave this a try! Kudos to you friend! :)

These three are always close to each other! I noticed when the Bicolour went in, the Magnificent was so much more confident and after adding the Scribbled the 3 of them were just so active and happy.

Very interesting. I was always under the impression that multiple foxface would kill each other. Seriously considering adding a magnificent in with my established bicolour. Fingers crossed.
Oh I 100% was told and thought the same thing. @i cant think having success with two made me super curious so when I saw her at the LFS I pulled the trigger. Buddy (the magnificent) went all black and threw his spines up at her when he first saw her then calmed down and now they are best buds. I put her in yesterday.

I have mixed so many rabbitfish together both in my own tanks and LFS frag tanks and I have yet to have issues. It’s the best thing about working at an LFS is you trial things that people imagine never work :)

Thats super cool! I love my two together. So cool. She is smaller than he is but not for long! Those guys grow so fast

rabbitfish are schooling fish, they congregate in groups !
I totally see that in the wild but always have been told they fight in the aquarium if theres more than one! Im just happy they like each other. She is more confident to be out and about and its rubbing off on him!

Aww, sounds awesome! Can't wait to see a pic of the two

Never never two rabbitfish is what I've always heard. This thread is very enlightening.
I've always wanted a magnificent - but one of my very first fish was a baby vulpinus. 5+ years later I have a big boy. Is it really possible to add a smaller mag fox? They shoal/school together as juvi, but curious if adults will accept it ?

Yeah!
Here was my Magnificent and Tongan Black “pair”

The Magnificent was established for 4-5 years prior to the Tongan entering the tank. Then I came across the Tongan Black and after it being my dream Foxface for literally years I took it to attempt the mix. They accepted each other very quickly to the point the very same night the Tongan went in, the magnificent slept ontop of him!

As you can see, they were both at a minimum 7 inches in length, the Tongan certainly grew at a faster rate than the magnificent did and got to 9-10 inches just before a rock fall happened. I also lost that magnificent shortly after during a tank upgrade and he was 7-8 inches.

Tongan black is new for me - very cool fish. Very sorry to hear you lost both - they were beautiful fish
I will definitely try to add an additional foxface at some point soon. Thanks for sharing - I would have never considered it without your knowledge/experience.

The Tongans seem to only come in every so often which is annoying but maybe well see more come in over time.

That is awesome. I have a one spot fox space in a 180g tank for 3 years. I tried adding a juvenile yellow mimic tang, and he almost killed it within 30 minutes. Had to rehome the tang. Haven't tried adding any similar fish since then.
