Any idea what these two things are? The first one is totally transparent...I have them in a few different areas. The second worm looking thing appears to be growing pretty quickly. I have 3 or 4 or them. I don't see anything coming out of the end other than some brown stringy hair algae looking thing that is roughly 3 times the length of the tube. The tube itself doesn't move. The only time I see it release the "string" is when I do water changes....then all 3 of them do it at the same time.

The top pic looks like a clear sea squirt. Harmless filter feeder. The bottom pic judging by your description sounds like a vermitid snail. If it has a calcified tube and shoots out feeder tentacles when you feed or sediment is stirred then I am sure that is indeed what it is. If so you need to kill it asap. The best method I have found is to plug the entrance with super glue gel. Hope this helps.

Based on pictures, it does look like that is what it is. How does the super glue gel work underwater? Any special kind? I have always used reef epoxy to glue down coral....I have never tried using super glue for anything.

Super glue gel works great. Just put a small dab over the entrance. I like the Loctite ULTRA Gel Control Super Glue. Most any hardware store or Wal-Mart will carry it. I use it for glueing small pieces to my rock and frags to plugs also. Great stuff.

So can these just be manually pulled off and removed from the tank or is it better to plug and kill them, leaving them where they are?

Yes, you can snip or snap off the vermetid snail at the base (curly part) and it will kill them. Careful, can be sharp.
