Two incidents in one day!

My prized starfish (looks like tony the tiger) was found today with 3 legs gone!looked like it may have gotten into my power head or something because it was fine this morning.then later this afternoon I see a red hermit crab with one of my gobies in its claws already gone.again this fish was fine this morning.I grabbed the hermit and put it in my sump,could a hermit go rogue?

Yes, any crab has that potential

Hermits can go rouge. Yes.
Brittle stars will drop legs as a survival method.
I would test the ammonia and salinity.
