Two part dosing question...

Hey guys,

So I think I finally have it down on how much I need to dose B-Ionic two-part to maintain alk and calcium. I have a small mixed reef Nuvo 16 gallon tank and it seems to be taking 10ml of each solution to keep my parameters at the following:

Alk - 8.4dkh
Calcium - 400ppm

Does 10ml sound like a lot of solution for such a small tank? Or does that actually make sense due to such little water volume, the SPS are depleting the values fairly quickly.

Nice tank!
If you are testing and 10 Ml is keeping you in check then you are dosing the correct amount for your particular tank.. All tanks are different when it comes to dosing amounts..

One other thing, your Ca could be a little higher..
I try to shoot for 450...

Could it be if my calcium was at 450, I wouldn't need to dose so much? Alkalinity might be easier to maintain with a higher calcium?

Not necessarily, even though your tank is small you have a lot of corals that would uptake your elements.. honestly, from what I see in the video your reef looks great.. I would just keep doing exactly what you are doing and not change anything...

Assuming you dose that daily, it is not a large dose. It is 1.4 dKH per day, which is small to medium demand. Coralline algae alone can create more demand than that.

Thanks for all your replies. I just felt like adding so much supplement to such a small tank was unusual even though the numbers looked good. I suppose most people also don't keep an SPS heavy nano either..
