First one is asking for an ID. What the heck is this brown flaky stuff in my fallow 29g? It even gets on the glass sometimes.

Second question:
I have a 10g that has been set up to QT corals. I'll be attending, with husband in tow, a frag swap next Saturday and hope to find a few that we like. Do I need to add some bacteria (such as Dr.Tim's, Stability, etc.)? Right now it has a heater and a clearview filter system. I have a light and a power head on the way. There is no live sand or rock in the aquarium, just a bare bottom. Suggestions?

Thanks!

Maybe you could do a Quick fishless cycle on the tank with Dr. Tims one and only bottle bacteria and Pure ammonia? Ive read that it will cycle a tank in like 4-5 days doing it that method.

Pretty sure that brown flakey stuff are flat worms. Not bad per se but they can get to plague proportions if you aren't careful or have a nutrient problem. I recommend siphoning out as many as you can and dosing flat worm exit
