I've just completed a build (I'll be positing about it soon), which has two tanks connected to one sump. So all water in the tanks and sump are shared.
On one tank, I have (4) Current-USA IC Loop lights. On the other, I have a $25.00 generic Red, Blue and White LED light.
After 5 days, the tank with the Current USA lights has developed a dusting of brown algae and a haze of green algae on the glass.
I'm surprised this has happened in such a short period of time.
In contrast, the tank with the generic LED is as pristine as it was on day one.
So with water conditions being identical in the tanks, the variable is the lighting.
Why would one light promote algae growth so quickly and the other not?
