Two tanks one sump

So I am in the process of starting my 40 Breeder with a RS-75 sump and a ES7. I have a Idea im playing with to eventually set up my 60 gallon and plumbing it into the singular sump? Would it be possible? I am going to upgrade the sump to have a refugium and longer as this one has its gripes. *Will upgrade sump before the cube is added since I still need to get my 40 running

Yes, it work fine as long as the sump is situated lower then the tanks and that the sumps can handle all water at a power break.
I work at a small public aquarium and we got lots of tanks connected to the same sumps. Easier to control the water quality when there's less numbers of water systems.

Agreed, so long as the equipment is large enough to handle the volume of both tanks, you should be good.

The only real downside to that is that if one tank has a problem, everything has a problem. Think Ich, etc. If you have separate systems then you have someplace to put things during problem times.

Well the ES7 is rated for 150 gal I believe and I will upgrade the magdrive if I do add another tank. I have worked at the LFS I just wanted to know how one would go about adding it to the sump. Just a simply T from the overflow from the sixty and 40 going into the filter sock? What pump would yall recommend for the return? Im on the fence for a vectra

That is valid and since I've had ich im going to QT or dip but I Dont have major plans for livestock but I have enough tanks I would be able to QT the fish for a couple of weeks.

I supposed a tee'd line would work, just make sure to add valves on the return lines going back to tank. This way you can shut down one line & throttle back the other to do maintenance while letting the other still run.

At a LFS I worked out we had 10 tanks all plumbed to one sump. The skimmer was a $3k commercial grade skimmer 4ft tall and 3ft wide

NP. If you're going all hard plumbing, you might want think about double union valves or even just unions, so you have some ability to pull apart.

Current hard tubed plumbing has three unions lol my older manager showed me you can never have too many

Unless the unions lost its o-ring then you got a leak
