Hi Everyone,

So my tank is about 2m old and I am getting a diatom outbreak and my sons is 10x days old and the same. I got the Salifert test kit and cannot tell the readings, after telling the readings what should I do to either?

Mine = Is this 0 or .03?

Won’t be phosphates but silicates other from:
New rock
New sand
Your water source
RODI resin used up
Organics
Too much light

Can I use RowaPhos or Chemi-Pure Elite to reduce the silicates or will I bottom out my PO4?

Yes... it can reduce silicates but also likely to bottom out your phosphates. If you are using RODI water I would not worry about it in a new tank and just let it burn itself out.

As for the phosphate readings what you have on both tanks is just fine and if anything on the low side, but really hard to tell with those tests.

It's probably in between the two. Find the source of the silicate causing the issue (as others said it's not phosphate related).

Ok TY, since the tanks are new it probably is from the rock and sand like you mentioned??
