If we used quality stainless wire, it would make life a lot easier, faster and cheaper than using glue's, epoxy, or plastic, fiberglass and acrylic rods ?

No, it will corrode in time and leach out into the water collum.

SS will still corrode.

Saltwater corrosion is an electrochemical process caused by the electrical potential of the alloy or metal when it comes into contact with seawater, and is dependent on the seawater acidity or alkalinity. Because of its high chloride content, seawater also makes for an efficient electrolyte. The constant churning, combined with the presence of oxygen, means that metals are exposed to a variety of anodic and acidic solutions that can seep into hidden cracks and crevices, allowing for the start of corrosion.

That's some intence scientific knowledge. lol,....but I understand enough to get by,.....meaning no. lol

Is their a similar product that can be used in the same manor ?

People have used "zip ties" before. Kinda unsightly and do break sometimes. Fishing line, but even more so with breaking and failure.

Rock falls can be problematic with live stock and more importantly the tank.

I've had good luck in the past with drilling rock with a masonry drill bit and using driveway marker posts made of fiberglass. Much more stable. Made me sleep better at night. Glass tank, rock fall, broken tank. .. .. . nightmares. Lol

I just did my scape with hydraulic cement. Works well as long as it's not underwater.

At least from what I've seen, those marker rods are steel coated with a rubber type product.
Where can you get the fiberglass rods and what exactly are they called ?

Lowe's or home Depot should have them. Driveway markers. The ones I've used are orange. All fiberglass.

I used acrylic rods from lowes, they were rods for window blinds. Was worried about fiberglass absorbing water over time. Plus the acrylic is clear so it disappears better in the tank.

Funny you mentioned that. I found a clear rod that attaches to blinds for closed to open them, and thought about using them for the rockwork. Their a bit flexable, but that might be a good thing.

I wonder in time, if they would become brittle ?
How long have you been using them ?
I can look, but how much are they ?
Is your rock origional to ocean or the dead white rock ?
What type of drill bit works best ?
