Tyler's 120 stock list and questions.

Hi everyone! I've decided on my stock list for my 120

For fish I'm planning on:
Cubicus Boxfish.
Valentini puffer.
2 x fuzzy dwarf lions.
Snowflake eel.
One spot foxface (possibly a different rabbit fish if I find a nice one for a nice price)
Yellow eyed joke tang.
As for coral (IF the puffer behaves himself!) I'm planning a euphyllia garden, cynarina garden and a plate garden. Most of the euphyllia will be hammers and most of the plates will be fungias.
How does that sound to everyone? Is that adding order ok? Can anyone see any issues I may not have thought of?
At the moment I do not have a spare tank for QTing new fish. Would a 5 gal bucket suffice for a QT for the Boxfish, puffer and lions? Once I move the snowflake on to the 120 I'll be able to use her 24gal as a QT for the foxface and tang. I don't want to move the snowflake on earlier as she's a feisty one and may not take kindly to the slower moving smaller fish.

I would be reluctant to add a boxfish with an eel and a puffer as if it gets stressed is capable of releasing a pretty potent toxin that can kill all your fish.

I personally have had a problem with valentini puffers picking at fleshy brains.

I am sure you have heard, but puffers and lions don't always mix either. Make sure you are ready to help if the puffer picks at the lions fins.

The first valentini I had didn't pick at coral and was incredibly docile. I guess it comes down to the individual though. Shouldn't Euphyllia be relatively safe?
That Boxfish toxin issue is one of my concerns. I would hope adding it first would help it feel most comfortable and help with stress related issues.

I'm prepared for this luckily

I have an external fuge which will be suitable for a puffer to be moved into if need be until I could find a more permanent home. I think I could put any of the fish on my list in there short term except the rabbit fish and tang.

Only if you QT one fish at a time and it's small. I mainly like 5 gal buckets for tank transfer method, but at some point the fish needs to be moved into a tank for observation (so you can see it from all angles.)

Thanks! Ill only QT 1 fish at a time and prefer to get my fish as small as possible. I like to watch them grow and I'm on a small budget so getting smaller fish is important to me

Also, would a 24 gal be a suitable QT for a foxface and Kole tang? Or is that too small?
This hobby was so much simpler when I only had nanos and only kept one fish at time so QT wasn't such a big deal lol.

24 gal is fine, especially if you get the fish small.
