Shut down my back frag tank. To limit dino spread. Seems to have helped.

Now battling just in the display system.

Blackouts help, but thats about it.

So, currently running three U.Vs. The turbo twist i already had on the right cor 20s. Did a quick rough in of a 40w pentair to the left cor20 return. Then added ANOTHER 40w pentair right into the display directly to creat another loop using sicce pump. If I end up doing a reset. I'll properly hard plumb them in.

I got a reef octopus skimmer on sale in the event these last ditch efforts don't work and I do a reset. Im seperating the frag from my display and making a sump for it. Ill use the skimmer on the frag tank, to keep my coral all happy and stable. While I tear down display.

I added the neptune moon lighting, I actually love it, nice shimmer at night.

Finally got my nitrates and phosfates back into balance. Aswell as alk and cal. Took awhile, but there back.

Still noticing growth stun with my sps for some reason, still trying to figure that one out.

My algea scrubber I made is a beast, love it.

I have a ton of vermit snails. Even through all the rigorous QT process I do, they still made it in, whatever. They don't seem to bother anything. And no, bumblebee snails don't work. I've added probably around 100 bumblebees.

Had a mis hap, awhile back and forgot to turn both cor20s back onto display. But the frag cor20 I didn't turn off when cleaning, as it was still cycling from frag tank back to sump. Keeper that loop going but the display was sitting still. Therefore no apex alarms where going off with temp etc. Stupid me, I didn't at the time have any programing in place to prevent this from happening. Only noticed in am. I lost 6 fish due to it (my nice wrasses and anthius) and some lps, I was super devastated. Live and learn.

Are all those fish in the 220 or spread out over a few tanks?
Just wondered because my LFS told me I couldn’t have any other wrasse with my Melanarus because he would kill any I put in.
I was also told not to have more than one clown pair because the dominant couple would kill em all.

All in the same tank. They thrive as a school.

Umm, as far as I know that's bs about the Melanarus, but I'm no expert. I had a orange back, male and female pintail also with it before I lost those two in my small crash from my pumps. Never any problems. Maybe @evolved can answer your wrasse question, he's the expert.

The clowns are all slightly different sizes, except my original pair. They all do fine.

I’ll keep that in mind when I restock mine. I had a velvet outbreak and was only able to save a Foxface, Melanarus and 2 chromis! Will have to keep your list in mind when I take all of next year to restock. I had about 13 total fish I think.

No, but since I lost my square spot anthius. The purple tang has become the bully out of everyone, In the tank. Every once and awhile he'll chase someone around.

I had 3 bimac anthias. One was a dominant male, he bullied anyone that would let him. Especially the poor school of chromis I had. Lol

my tang gang was a yellow, Naso, kole, and powder brown. The yellow bullied everyone. He liked to swim backwards into everyone. Especially my Foxface. Sadly I lost them all.

Used to use Kent Marine Tech-M, but they changed that formula

I feel my Dinos have be receding in the last couple weeks (a little) better than nothing i guess. Havnt done a blackout in almost a month so thats great.

I can really tell my stability is back also. Getting really nice poylp extension. And sps are colouring back up finally.

That is used to allow the Apex to know if there’s a power outage at your house. In order to use this, you need a UPS battery unit to supply power to the EnergyBar during a power failure, and a 12v auxiliary power adapter plugged into an unprotected wall outlet. Then if Power Monitoring is enabled, the Apex will check if that 12v adapter has power. You can then have the Apex shut down unnecessary devices to preserve the battery life as long as possible:

If Power Apex Off 000 Then OFF

If you do not have the 12v auxiliary adapter plugged in, do NOT enable Power Monitoring because the Apex will always think the power is out.

Live and learn. All good things must come to a end.

As the tank hits its second birthday, the battle is over. Dinos, are not getting any better(or worse for that matter), and the annoying vermetid snails continue to progress.

Tearing it down, and starting over, but with that, will come improvements.

With doing so, it will allow me to get Miracles to replace the front starphire panel under warranty free of charge. No more haze.



I also feel all the things I had added after the fact like the algea scrubber, third cor pump for frag system, more UV's, etc. Had gotten cluttered and hard to plumb in sump. So I'm going to completely change sump design. And will most likly re plumb the entire system. Aswell as improve my wire chases.

I'm setting up the frag tank, as it's own system. Get it cycling and stable, before I start my display tear down. Luckily I don't need to do a whole lot for it to be a self suffient system. Majority of this is already in place for it.

I will also keep my rock work a little lower and away from the sides a little more, as it currently is a pain to clean and reach down, as the tank is 30" deep.

Questions #reefsquad,

-If I were to cook my rock, to dissolve everything on it (including eradicating Vermitid snail) how would I do this. Bleech, acid, etc?? Also what's the best process for time duration
