Hello all.

Looking for help on this crab.
I am assuming this is an Acro but do not know the individual genus.
It is living in my rock structure now and am sure he was a hitchhiker with my tube Anemone.
This is its legs. Click on a video link below this pic.

Video Here

The acropora/pocillopora crabs are tetralia and trapezia species - neither are hairy brown like that crab is. That's likely a Cymo species and isn't something you want in the tank.

I don't think he is a Gorilla crab, as its only his legs that are hairy.
I thought he was an emerald first off, but he is not the right color being brown.
I deem some type of Acro with the black claw tips.

I have to assume he was in the sand bed of the tube Anemone.
I know, I know, QUARENTEEN.

I have not noticed any damage to my birdsnest, or two Acros and he was spotted by me the first time yesterday in my rockwork.

I would say currently between the size of a dime and a nickel. Its hard to tell as he has not completely come out of the rockwork.
Took me 45 minutes to get the pic and the video.

So he has been in there for about three weeks if he came with the TA.
But he must have been very small I think for me to have missed him.

I will do some research on the Cymo.
Thanks and I have no idea how I can get him out.
He hides instantly, may have to conjure up a trap of some sort.
Thx.

I have a hairy brown acro crab, but I am not sure that they will stray away from the acro though. I know mine won't.

Yes, this guy is in the rock.
Have not seen him anywhere else but in time he may venture around.

Briefly looking at the Cymo's I have not seen a similar one in any of the pics.
My guy has a very smooth hair free body and Front claws.
Its only the six back legs that have the hair.
This could be because it is a juvenile.
This ones eyes don't look blue, but black, and hard to tell without proper light.

I don't know where you are at with coral, but if you put a piece in enough for him to hide in it he will jump on it immediately if he is indeed a coral crab. Not sure if that is possible, just thought I would throw that out there.
