Hi all,
New to the forum here. Started my tank back in March. It’s a 71 display with 20 gal sump. I am learning as I go and trying not to lose too many coral or fish along the way.

I was hoping someone could tell me what type of algae this is. I would describe it as “leafy”. I like to determine if this type of algae is okay for the tank.

Thanks in advanced!

Hi there! It looks like you have sea lettuce (ulva lactuca) growing in your tank. Some urchins will take care of that pretty quickly :) It is okay to have have in the tank but because of how quickly it can grow you wouldn't want it to take over your corals and choke them out.

Agree on macroalgae- sea lettuce and salad for most any tang

Hey reefer, welcome to the forum.
Good answers.

Thanks so much for all the replies! Sea lettuce…got it. I’ll definitely be looking into the suggestions to help keep it under control.
