Thanks. Can I get more info of type shrimp or fish to get? That is for sure a species of Echinaster, very beautiful specimen! From what I have gathered, they are the most reef safe and hardiest of the true seastars, I'm actually planning on getting one in the next week or so.
One thing that seems to be important is target feeding them peices of shrimp or fish, they are scavengers in a way, so that would be good to keep in mind.
Good luck with this beautiful specimen, and God bless you!
Thanks. Well I hope so too. It's an Orange Sea Star (one of the echinaster sp). My wife picked one out a month or two ago. It died within a week and I have a fairly old, dirty aquarium (5+ years). They're extremely intolerant of pH swings and require very long (3+ hour) acclimation to the tank. They get bacterial infections very easily, which I presume is what mine got. It basically just fell apart in the tank. Hope yours works out better! They're beautiful creatures.
Any type will do, as long as it isn't rotten. Personally, I go to the fish market and buy table shrimp/green shrimp, but any type of fish or shrimp that is edible to humans, should be good for your fish. You could also feed it reef pellets/fish pellets.Thanks. Can I get more info of type shrimp or fish to get?
