Types of salt for soft corals?

That wasn't my comment...lol. No idea why they posted that with no explanation. Some people are a little snobbish about what salt to use. That regular IO is perfectly fine for a softy tank. If you decide to add some stony corals you can dose some elements or move on to Reef Crystals. That regular IO is very consistent.

Honestly, regular IO is good enough for just about any tank out there. Is it the best salt, no. There are other salts that can make your life easier or can improve the health of your tank if you have a more demanding set-up. But there isn't a tank out there that can't thrive on IO with good husbandry.

For a softy-centric tank, regular Instant Ocean is great and is going to be the best bang for your buck by a long shot.

Since it has been historically one of the most consistent and stable salt mixes, yes it is a very good salt.
Saying it's the best is subject to opinion, but most agree it is.
It doesn't hurt that it is usually one of the cheaper salt mixes.
